Weekend Goals--Weekend of 3/2/12

Here's what's on my proverbial plate for this weekend:

  • Write another page or two of my Senior Thesis for HR class
  • Figure out what my next assignment is for my Econ class
  • Hang shelf and pictures in Tyler's bathroom
  • Put up the last "project" in Tyler's bathroom
  • Clean Tyler's bathroom
  • Finish painting trim in Tyler's bathroom
  • Take pictures of Tyler's bathroom
  • Write (FINALLY!) blog post for Tyler's bathroom reveal
  • Write at least 2 posts for Single Mama Stuff
  • Sweep & Mop floors in the house
  • Clean the other two bathrooms (might as well if I'm going to have the cleaning stuff out, right?!)
  • Pick up the limbs from the hedge trimming that I did earlier in the week
  • Pay bills
  • Get quote on new carpet from Lowes
  • Plant bulbs in front flower bed
  • Spray yard for weeds
  • Start cleaning out the spare bedroom (May will be here before I know it!)
  • Post House "To-Do" list on this blog
  • Sleep in at least one morning and do something fun with the little dude
Anybody else notice that my lists just get longer with each passing week?  Hmm. . . .

Weekend Goals Update--Weekend of 2/24

Okay, don't go being all judgey on me.  Here's how I stacked up this weekend:

  • order heartworm meds for the dog--doing this at work today.
  • tag stuff for the consignment sale
  • deliver tagged items to the consignment sale on Sunday
  • write a god-awful paper on a god awful subject: Globalization in Mexico and the U.S.
  • turn in previously mentioned assignment meant only to inflict torture upon an unsuspecting (and undeserving of said torture) soon-to-be (if God has any mercy at all, that is) graduate and smile while doing so because doing anything other could impact a (nearly) flawless GPA
  • get an oil change (I'm pretty sure this is God's way of punishing me for something--single women should not have to drive around in cars that require maintenance.  Or new tires.  Where's the gal who can design a car that doesn't require either of those things?  Wherever she is, she's soon to be rich.  And my new BFF)
  • volunteer at consignment sale on Sunday--I hide behind the concept that I volunteer at this thing because I want to help and I'm invested in the owners' success.  Really, it's just that they give me a bigger percentage of my sales if I volunteer.  So, again, I slap on a smile and grit my teeth while the two sale owners talk massive amounts of trash and gossip about every.last. unsuspecting customer, consignor, or volunteer who sets foot in the place.  And then I leave and they talk smack about me.  I'm not naive.  I know their game.  I'm not special so there's no valid reason to think that I would be spared from their middle-schoolish gossip fests.
  • Take-out Chinese and a sappy movie date with a girlfriend for tonight--Lucky me, I get to indulge in this little bit of single mama bonding while attempting to multi-task and write the paper mentioned previously.  Where did I leave that damn cape??
  • Sweep & Mop the floors--oh joy--yeah right, this is probably the 3,460th time that this same task has shown up on my to-do list and hasn't gotten done. Convenient isn't it?  I HATE (as in, H-A-T-E) to sweep.  Don't mind the mopping but sweeping usually leads to violent twitches for me.  Since mopping just isn't as effective without sweeping first, my floors usually look like they are meant to be streaked.  It's the new look.  Just don't eat off the floors!
  • Laundry--maybe I'll find my missing cape
  • Go over and help a friend fill out a job application on Sunday afternoon--since said friend is an HR professional, I'm very unclear as to why she asked me to help her fill out the application.  But, I'm flattered and more than happy to help her.  And I mean that geniunely.  She's a nice friend.
  • Paint the final paint project for Tyler's bathroom--didn't get totally done with this but I did get something done on it
  • Write at least 2 posts for LoaDoL-SMS (if you haven't checked out the new addition to the blog, you must do so here.  Right now.  I'll wait.)
  • Talk my friend into actually scheduling a date for when we are going to go to Ikea and spend a very large chunk of my tax return
IN ADDITION, I also managed to get the following things done which were not on the original list:
  • Buy tent for camping trip in May
  • Read the Sunday paper while sipping a hot cup of coffee in a quiet house while completing ignoring the fact that there are dust bunnies hiding in every corner of the house constantly taunting me and quietly whispering to each other that they've lived here so long that in order to get rid of them I'll need a legal order of eviction.  Just keep blabbering you dust bunnies, I'm coming after you.  One day.  Maybe when I run out of coffee.
  • I got two more pages written for my final Senior Thesis paper in my HR class.  Yay!  Only a few more pages to write and then I can start on the finishing touches.  Once I get that done, I can turn in the paper to my professor for a preliminary review.  I dread this--he'll probably pick it apart and cause me hours worth of more work just to get it the way he wants it before I can turn it in for good.  Oh well. . .T minus 69 days until graduation.  I can make it. . .I can make it. . .I will make it!
Can I get a collective BOO-YAH?!  No?  Just me?  Oh, okay. . be that way, then.  I'm actually pretty happy with the amount of stuff that I managed to get done this weekend.  Then again, Ty was at his dad's house so that might explain the extra burst of productivity.

Weekend Goals List--Weekend of 2/24

Yikes. . .lots of stuff to do this weekend.  Not lots of time to get it accomplished.  Perhaps I should put on my super-woman cape and get to work.  If only I could remember which overflowing hamper of dirty laundry it's currently hiding in.

  • order heartworm meds for the dog
  • tag stuff for the consignment sale
  • deliver tagged items to the consignment sale on Sunday
  • write a god-awful paper on a god awful subject: Globalization in Mexico and the U.S.
  • turn in previously mentioned assignment meant only to inflict torture upon an unsuspecting (and undeserving of said torture) soon-to-be (if God has any mercy at all, that is) graduate and smile while doing so because doing anything other could impact a (nearly) flawless GPA

There you have it. . .my list of things to accomplish this weekend.  Wanna start making bets on whether or not I can actually get most of it accomplished?  I'll post an update on Monday.  If I don't die of exhaustion after trying to actually accomplish everything on this list, that is.

Weekend Goals UPDATE--weekend of 1/27/12

**Here's how I did with my To-Do list this weekend:

  • World Globalization Exam for class--uh. . .my professor never sent it to me!  Not sure what's going on but I think he might be holding off until a meeting that we have scheduled for Tuesday night.  Maybe he'll forget?  That would be AWESOME!
  • Start research for term paper in HR class
  • Prepare case study for possible presentation in next week's class
  • Do exercise for HR class
  • Buy dog food
  • Sweep & mop floors downstairs (yes, this has been on the list for like 6 weeks straight and never seems to get done.  I HATE sweeping and mopping!)--YES!  I FINALLY got this done!  YAY!!!!
  • Laundry
  • Vacuum all carpets in house
  • Clean bathroom
  • Help Friend move on Saturday
  • Go to Tyler's Pinewood Derby race car event for Scouts on Saturday morning

Holy Bajeebers. . .that list was longer than I thought it would be.  Wish me luck!

Weekend Goals--Weekend of 1/27/12

A relatively short list of weekend goals this weekend but that's because some of these items are going to be very time consuming.  Ick.  I think I'd rather work all weekend than actually be off work and have to get some of this stuff done.  SAVE ME!!!

  • Start research for term paper in HR class
  • Prepare case study for possible presentation in next week's class
  • Do exercise for HR class

Weekend Goals Update--Weekend of 1/7

Updated to show what I accomplished over the weekend and where I fell flat on my face.  Please be kind. . .it was a busy weekend!

Here's what my goals are for this weekend:
  • Get Christmas Tree in the Dining Room taken down
  • Put all Christmas decorations back in the attic
  • Boy Scouts Nature Walk on Saturday
  • Thirty One Event on Sunday
  • Laundry
  • Sweep & Mop downstairs
  • Hang cabinet doors, hardware, and pictures in Tyler's bathroom--will you accept partially complete?
  • Finish the bedside table for Tyler's room Finished and put in his room but the pictures still haven't been taken.  I'll try to get to that this week!
  • Make the cuts for a project in Tyler's bathroom (still waiting to do the final reveal until I get everything done!)--the cuts were made, but the bathroom is still in progress.  I digress!  I promise it will eventually be done and I'll put pics up of the finished glory!
Overall, I actually didn't do as bad as I had thought.  For some reason, I thought there were a ton more items on the list.  Still working on that bathroom along with a couple of other small things around the house (like getting the hardware switched out on my kitchen drawers--that's proving to be a more difficult "quick" project than I had initially thought.  Boo.) but I'm s-l-o-w-l-y making progress.

Weekend Goals--Weekend of 12/9

Good Morning, My Lovlies!  No real weekend goals post for this weekend since the little dude and I will be taking off to go see my Mommy in DC this weekend.  Momsters is in DC for a conference for work and that's only two hours North of me so there was no way I wasn't going to invade our Nations capital for a little Momma time.

Hope you all have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday with some new stuff for ya.  I just don't know what new stuff it will be yet.  I'll work on that this weekend.  Peace out, homeys!

Weekend Goals Update--Weekend of 12/2

Update on how much I got done over the weekend. . .

Goals for this weekend:
  • Get the outside of my house decorated for Christmas
  • Get everything on the inside decorated except for the main tree.  That one Tyler and I will decorate together next week.
  • Get some blog posts finished and others started--my computer at home is acting really really wonky.  Not good.  WORST time for my computer to start to die on me.  But, I'll die without a computer so. . . something's gotta give.
  • At least start both finals for school and finish the one for Real Estate Law--actually, just finish both of them.  This is asking alot but it will make next week SO much easier.
  • Pay bills--yuck.  Ick.  Blech
  • Drop off Angel Tree stuff
  • Donate blood on Saturday morning--Kind of, they turned me away because my iron tested too low.  :-(
  • Pick up Craigslist dining room table--which will be refinished.  At some point.
  • Go to Costco and:
    • get pictures printed--decided against going through 2000 pictures at the kiosk in Costco (thus totally irritating the other holiday picture seeking shoppers in line behind me) and decided to just do it from the comfort of my own home (if my computer will cooperate) and order them on Costco's site.
    • pick up Christmas tree
    • get stuff on shopping list
  • Go to Lowes and get stuff for ornaments that Ty and I will make
  • Garden Ridge for Christmas ornaments
  • Old Navy--Didn't really need anything, anyways.
  • Best Buy--I'll do this at a later date.  I just ran out of steam yesterday afternoon.
  • Home Goods
  • Make cinnamon and applesauce ornaments and Fruit Loop garland for the tree in Tyler's room
Other things I was able to accomplish:
  • got garland for the outside of the house. . .& put it up!
  • Laundry--still need to get that last load out of the dryer and put it away but most of the laundry's done!
  • went to Trader Joes and got some groceries
  • was able to manage to squeeze in a little girl time with one of my besties who is going through a similar situation to mine in regards to relationships and we have found that leaning on each other just makes it a little easier.
It was a busy weekend for sure.  This week is shaping up to be equally as busy but next weekend will be a mini-vacay in DC with my Mom and sweet sweet little boy.  Can't wait!

Weekend Goals Update--weekend of 11/18

Here's the update on my weekend goals:

  • Clean my house--it's awful!  Seriously.
  • Wash, Dry, Fold, & put away laundry
  • Get some blog posts written and scheduled for posting
  • Work on the office--yes, I'm still working on that one little room.  Ugh!--I'm not sure this room will ever get finished!  Maybe during the two weeks off that I have for Christmas?
  • Take Ty to Lowes Build & Grow on Saturday
  • Go to Bass Pro shops to see Santa on Sunday--this item has been postponed until a later time in which his father can join us.  He freaked out when I told him that I might be taking Ty to see Santa.  He didn't want me to do it without him.  Whatever.
  • Start packing for our trip next week
  • Write out Xmas list (Black Friday shopping next week!)--I'm going to do this on my way down to visit BD family this week for Thanksgiving.
  • Type paper for school--yeah, this too
  • Clip coupons (I'm like 6 weeks behind on inserts which equals total disaster)--they are all clipped but now they need to be organized.  Ugh!
  • Send steam cleaner back for warranty repair
  • Take Ty to see Happy Feet 2--this has been postponed simply because there was no time.
  • Put Thanksgiving decorations outside--yes, the inside is decorated.  Outside, notsomuch.
  • Old Navy for coat for me
  • Southern States for dog food and some other stuff
Other things that I managed to accomplish:

  • Got the wireless router hooked up in the office.  Up until now, I've either been stealing borrowing wireless from a neighbor (hey, you leave your wireless network unlocked. . I might hop in and join you every now and then) or miserably tethered to the ethernet cable in the office.  Now, I'm able to work from anywhere in my house!
  • Got Tyler's room cleaned and organized--this goes beyond just cleaning the house.  That kid's room needed an overhaul!  We cleaned out every basket, bin, and box.  We organized and threw away TWO trashbags full of old, broken, or misplaced toys.
  • I got all halloween decorations packed up and put back in the attic
  • Organized clothing for next women's clothing consignment sale into appropriate bins and got them put up in the attic.
  • I started getting the new hardware put on the drawers in my kitchen.  I had the cabinets repainted a few months ago and decided that I wanted to change out the hardware.  Look for a later post on this transformation!
I'm sure there is more, I just don't have it jotted down yet.  I'll add anything else that I managed to get done over the weekend to the update post.

Weekend Goals--Weekend of 11/18

Here are my goals for this weekend.  The list is kinda long because there's ALOT of stuff that needs to get done this weekend! I'll post an update on Monday so you can see how much I managed to get done.

  • Clean my house--it's awful!  Seriously.
  • Wash, Dry, Fold, & put away laundry

Weekend Goals UPDATE--Weekend of 10/15

Everything went straight to. . .well, you know where. . .over the weekend.  I was supposed to come home from Nashville on Friday evening and my flight ended up getting bumped to Saturday.  That literally threw a wrench into EV-ER-Y-THING!!!  Here's how the goal accomplishment shook out:

  • Put together goody bags for the boys on the Football team--it actually got done on time.
  • Wash Tyler's football uniform for game on Saturday--well, kind of.  Some of it was washed.  Some of it. . .I'm not so sure.
  • Volunteer at consignment sale Saturday morning--not even close.  I didn't get home until after that shift was long over.
  • Shop at consignment sale Saturday -- YAY!  New duds for me!!--NOPE :(  By time I got home, they were closed.
  • Pick up unsold items from consignment sale on Sunday--Yes, this was done.
  • DATE with Tyler's Dad (I know, it sounds strange. . .don't ask.  I'll explain more at a later date, if ever) on Sunday  Absolutely!  We went to see the musical Wicked.  It was AWESOME!!!!
  • Pick up dog from boarding place on Saturday afternoon--it didn't get done until Sunday which cost me an extra day (Boo.) but it got done.
The weekend literally flew right by.  It wasn't until Sunday night at 11:15pm that I actually figured out that it was Sunday at 11:15pm and I had to go back to work the next morning.  Aack!

Every weekend between now and the end of the year appears that it might be stacking up to be equally as busy.  Lovely.  I'm going to need a vacation!

Weekend Goals--Weekend 10/15

By now, you know the drill.  Here are my goals for this weekend.  I'll post an update on Sunday or Monday.
  • Put together goody bags for the boys on the Football team
  • Wash Tyler's football uniform for game on Saturday
  • Volunteer at consignment sale Saturday morning
  • Shop at consignment sale Saturday -- YAY!  New duds for me!!
  • Pick up unsold items from consignment sale on Sunday
  • DATE with Tyler's Dad (I know, it sounds strange. . .don't ask.  I'll explain more at a later date, if ever) on Sunday
  • Pick up dog from boarding place on Saturday afternoon
I think, I think that's it.  But, I'm in no position to think right now so. . .yeah, I don't know what else to say.  I'll post an update once I have an update!

Weekend Goals Update

This weekend was definitely busy!  Thankfully, I have the day off of work today so I'm getting some things done that I wasn't able to get accomplished over the weekend.  Here's how everything stacked up when it was all said and done:
  • Tyler's Birthday Party on Saturday--hopefully everyone has fun, no one gets lost, and I don't lose my mind. . .or at least, the 18th replacement that I've gotten after losing it all of those other times.  Done!  And I survived!
  • Try to enjoy my birthday.  It's Saturday. I am happy to report that I had an excellent birthday.  Wonderful gifts from my sweet little man and a fabulous dinner!
  • Get the clothes entered and tagged for the women's consignment sale that starts the following week
  • CLEAN. MY. HOUSE.--This is obviously a Sunday project--NOT getting done before then.--UGH. . . my steam mop seems to be having issues today and I got almost everything done except for my floors.  I'll be working on that tonight.  Other than that, I just have a few things to get done downstairs and I suppose I could cross this off the list.
  • Laundry
  • Clip the dog's nails--he looks like he's going for some Guiness Book of World Records nomination.  "Dog with 18 inch toe pawnails". . .It's scary how fitting it is!
Other things that I managed to get accomplished:
  • Pack for my work trip to Nashville this week
  • Decorate my mantel for Halloween (I'll be posting about this later in the week!)

Friday, October 7, 2011

Weekend Goals--Weekend of 10/7

This weekend's goals are extremely short and to the point.  You'll see why in just a minute.  So, for this weekend, here is what I plan to achieve:

  • Tyler's Birthday Party on Saturday--hopefully everyone has fun, no one gets lost, and I don't lose my mind. . .or at least, the 18th replacement that I've gotten after losing it all of those other times.
  • Try to enjoy my birthday.  It's Saturday.
  • Get the clothes entered and tagged for the women's consignment sale that starts the following week
  • CLEAN. MY. HOUSE.--This is obviously a Sunday project--NOT getting done before then.
  • Laundry
  • Clip the dog's nails--he looks like he's going for some Guiness Book of World Records nomination.  "Dog with 18 inch toe pawnails". . .It's scary how fitting it is!
That's it!  With the obnoxious amount of things that I need to get done just to pull of Tyler's birthday party on Saturday, I can't put anything else on my goals list for this weekend.  I'll go crazy.

I'll update on Sunday.  If I'm still alive after Saturday!

Weekend Goals Update

  • Enter consignment items for Women's clothing sale in October--still working on this one.  Will hopefully get it knocked out tonight.
  • Pack yardsale stuff in car
  • Sell stuff at yard sale
  • Donate unsold yard sale items to Goodwill and drop off at Goodwill
  • Mow front and back yard
  • Homework for school
  • Unpack all of Tyler's fall clothes and hang them up
  • Work for 20 minutes in office--still trying to get that office decluttered--nope, this was a total and utter failure. :-(
  • Pay bills--ick. . .blech. . .boohiss
  • Place Thirty One order--I decided to try to place this order off of a party that I'll be doing for a client of mine.  Might save me a bit on shipping.
  • take Tyler somewhere fun on Sunday (movies? mini-golf?)--The fact that this one didn't get accomplished really breaks my heart.  Not only do I feel the defeat of not being able to cross it off my list, but the rest of the "to do" list (and a very much needed nap!) just didn't allow for us to do anything extra.  I feel like such a bad Mommy! :(
  • Football game Saturday night
  • Kohls--nope, decided that I've spent enough money on needless stuff lately. . no need to spend more.  Plus, Tyler's birthday party this weekend is going to totally wipe me out.
  • WalMart
  • Target--I didn't make it to Target this weekend but plan to go after work today.  I have gift cards so I'm hoping that I can get what I need (some clothes for me) with those.
Extra things that got Accomlished:
  • Got all of the laundry done and put away-YAY!
  • Got my Walgreens and Kroger shopping done
  • got a start on my blog posts for this week
Overall, a very very busy weekend!  Still got lots to do and didn't get everything accomplished on my to-do list but got fairly close.  TONS of stuff to get done this week since next weekend is so very busy.  Can't. even. think. straight.

Weekend Goals--Weekend of 10/1

Since the last goals post that I did was so successful in getting me to actually accomplish my list, I figured I'd try it again.  I think there's something about being accountable to a group of strangers via the internet that lights that fire under me to get things done.  Whatever it is, I'll take it!  So, like last time, I'll post my goals list here and then on Sunday (or Monday. . .depending on time), I'll post an update as to what I got accomplished this weekend.

  • Enter consignment items for Women's clothing sale in October
  • Pack yardsale stuff in car
  • Sell stuff at yard sale
  • Donate unsold yard sale items to Goodwill and drop off at Goodwill
  • Mow front and back yard
  • Homework for school
  • Unpack all of Tyler's fall clothes and hang them up
  • Work for 20 minutes in office--still trying to get that office decluttered

  • Place Thirty One order
  • take Tyler somewhere fun on Sunday (movies? mini-golf?)
  • Football game Saturday night
  • Kohls
  • WalMart
  • Target
I'll post an update later in the weekend.  Wish me luck. . .it's going to be a long weekend!

Weekend Goals Update

As promised (but still a little late--eek!), here is the update on how I did on my weekend goals list.

  • Send out September Thirty One specials email (I'm a Consultant for Thirty One Gifts and I send out an email at the beginning of each month to my customers about the specials for that month)  DONE!
  • Blog Posts--get at least one post published and one post started for next week for my own blog and then get post written for the blog that I'm guest blogging for.  More on that to come.  Yes, I'm famous already. Mom, you should be insanely proud! I did better than I had expected on this one. . .I wrote three posts for my blog and my guest blogger spot!
  • Pay bills--I think the mortgage company likes it when I pay them regularly.  The rest of the companies seem to too.  I hate paying bills.  It's all adult-y and stressful.  Where's the fun?  DONE--It was painful and now I'm totally broke (Mom, SEND MONEY!) but it's done.  For now.  Until the 1st of next month.  Where's the fun in life??
  • mow the grass--front yard and back yard WOO HOO!!!
  • Start planning Tyler's birthday party--Is there any way I can get out of that???--We've settled on a date, place, and somewhat of a guest list and menu.  Still a little fine tuning to go, but at least we've got somewhat of a plan.
  • Finish painting the office--2 walls of that damn (yes, I occasionally let it slip.  Sorry!) office have been painted for weeks MONTHS and it's high time it got finished.  I'm such a procrastinator.   Holy Ba-Jeezus I'm glad that's done!
  • Clean at least 1/2 of the office mess--my office is a total disaster.  As in, STUFF all over the floor.  The madness needs to stop.
  • Grocery shop--Irene helped me to clean my fridge and freezers. Now it's time to see if I can start filling them again.
  • Costco-need to get a dog bed.  Apparently, Pete thought it would be wise to eat his last one.  There are little bits of stuffing all around my room and an empty shell of what used to be a fluffy dog bed in the corner.  It's crazy business.
  • Homework for school
  • Sweep & mop the hardwood floors
  • Vacuum the carpet
  • Clean Tyler's room--I will have assistance with this or else the miniature man who lives in my house will start sleeping in the garage.  I keep telling him that we had a hurricane named Irene come through the neighborhood, not a Tornado named Tyler.  Geez. . . .
  • Clean the laundry room--the cat lives in there and he knows no boundaries when it comes to the litter box.  He doesn't exactly do his business outside of the box, but he likes to fling litter all over the floor.  That, and he's not exactly the neatest when he eats.  Therefore, there is a mess of litter, dry cat food bits, and wet food smears all over my laundry room floor.  Gross.
I even accomplished some extra things this weekend!  Adding to my list of accomplishments for the weekend are:

  • laundry--mine and Tyler's
  • hooked up the plumbing for my kitchen sink after the new countertops were installed last week--technically, I didn't do this but I managed to talk someone into doing it for me.  I know nothing about plumbing.
While I still left a few things un-done, I feel very accomplished!  Since I didn't get my floors cleaned or the mess in the office cleaned up (not even close. . .painting made a much larger mess), I'm going to add those to my goals list for next weekend.  Stay tuned. .
